SANTA BARBARA, CA – 7/23/2009 ? On July 8, 2009, the Santa Barbara Police Department arrested Susana Eguiron Vidarte, age 43, for passing numerous insufficient funds checks at various retail locations within the City of Santa Barbara. The investigation is ongoing and there are likely additional unidentified victims in this case. The Santa Barbara Police Department is asking the public to contact Detective Brian Sawicki at (805) 897-2326 if they were victims of insufficient funds checks written by Susana Eguiron Vidarte.

PROWLING CALLS END IN ARREST

SANTA BARBARA, CA – On 7/20/09, at approximately 6:10 a.m., officers responded to a prowler call on the 2400 block of Fletcher Ave. The female victim reported that she had seen the suspect on her property with his face against her window looking into the residence. The victim alerted her boyfriend who ran outside to confront the suspect. Once outside, the boyfriend struck the suspect in the face. The suspect, who was armed with a 2×4, then attacked the boyfriend by striking him on the thigh causing a laceration to the boyfriend?s leg. The suspect then fled the area prior to the arrival of the police.
On 7/20/09, at approximately 10:32 p.m., officers responded to another prowler call on the 500 block of W. Junipero St. In this case, the suspect was looking through a female victim’s bedroom window and asking her to disrobe her pajamas. The victim said that that she recognized the suspect as a person who was sleeping in the back yard of her neighbor on the 500 block of W. Alamar Ave. Officers then contacted the suspect, Scott Randolph Hanson, age 43, at the neighbors residence. A records check revealed Hanson was on parole and had a no bail warrant for his arrest.
Officers noticed that Hanson matched the description of the individual that had been involved in the prowling call on the 2400 block of Fletcher Ave. Through the investigation, Hanson was identified as the suspect on both cases. Hanson was arrested for the Assault With a Deadly Weapon, and the no bail parole warrant. The report was sent to the District Attorney’s Office requesting additional charges for the peeping incidents.

BODY FOUND IN HOPE RANCH IDENTIFIED

SANTA BARBARA, CA – On 06/27/09 Metta Thomsen, age 89, walked away from her residence at 3354 Cliff Drive. She was known to suffer from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. She was last seen wearing blue denim pants, blue shirt, white tennis shoes and a tan coat. On 07/20/09, Santa Barbara County Sheriff Department Detectives contacted The Santa Barbara Police Department informing investigators that they had located a body in the creek bed off of Las Olas Drive. Santa Barbara Police Department detectives responded due to them having the active missing person investigation of Metta Thomsen.
On 07/21/09, Santa Barbara Police detectives were notified by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff Coroner’s office that the body located in the creek bed off of Las Olas Drive was identified as Metta Thomsen. Detectives have notified the family of Ms. Thomsen. The Santa Barbara Police Department would like to thank those members of law enforcement, media and the community who assisted with or called in with information regarding this case.
