SANTA BARBARA, CA - 1/28/2008 - On 1/26/08 at 12:37 a.m. an officer patrolling the 600 block of W. Anapamu Street noticed two individuals, later identified as Ruben Sagastume 19 years old and Christian Sagastume 24 years old, crouch behind a parked vehicle attempting to hide form him. Both individuals were dressed in dark clothing and wearing ski masks on top of their heads. Ruben and Christian were contacted and found to be in possession of a backpack containing cans of spray paint and brass knuckles. Officers searched the area and found that the Anapamu Street foot bridge had recently been “tagged” with extensive graffiti. The color of the graffiti on the bridge matched the color of spray cans found in the backpack. Furthermore, both Ruben and Christian Sagastume had paint on their hands that matched the color paint on the bridge. Ruben was also found to be in possession of a switch blade knife. Ruben Sagastume was arrested for felony vandalism, possession of an illegal weapon, and possession of a switch blade knife. Christian Sagastume was arrested for felony vandalism.
On 1/26/08 at 5:12 p.m. an officer patrolling the 1200 block of San Pascual Street noticed three indiviuals sitting in a parked vehicle. As the officer passed the vehicle, the driver, later indentified as Ian Desantis 18 years old, seemed startled by the officer’s presence. As soon as the officer drove by the vehicle, the vehicle pulled away from the curb and headed north on San Pascual Street. The officer conducted a u-turn, monitored the vehicle, and subsequently conducted a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, the right front passenger, Pedro Arispe 24 years old, exited the vehicle. Arispe was searched and found to be in possession of a fixed blade hunting knife measuring approximately 10 inches. A search of the vehicle revealed a 17 inch metal pipe and a baseball bat. Ian Desantis and Pedro Arispe were arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon. The third passenger, Carlos Davis, 24 years old, was arrested for parole violation.
