SANTA BARBARA, CA – 9/21/2007. Last night at 10:20 p.m., police responded to a stabbing incident that just occurred on the lower Westside. Emergency responders found a 17-year-old male at his residence in the 800 block of Orange Avenue. He suffered numerous stab wounds including several to his upper torso. He was transported to Cottage Hospital and was admitted into the ICU ward. He is in stable condition and his injuries are not considered life threatening. Police officers followed a two-block long blood trail to the assault location in the 700 block of Wentworth Ave. Detectives are not certain of the exact motive or circumstances leading up to the attack, but have not ruled out that it was gang related.

The preliminary investigation is that the victim was on foot in his neighborhood when he was attacked. The victim was able to walk home on his own power before collapsing. He described being attacked by numerous suspects armed with knives. Anyone with information about this assault is urged to contact Detective Mike Brown, 897-2355.
