SANTA BARBARA, CA – 7/12/2006 – After some recent success battling residential burglaries, detectives report that break-ins have increased this last month.  The property most sought out by thieves continues to be: laptop computers, digital cameras, high-end electronics, jewelry, and cash.  Yesterday, 04/24/06, detectives received some very welcome news: a Cal-ID fingerprint match was made at a residential burglary in the 2100 block of Red Rose Way.  The suspect was a 17-year-old male with an extensive criminal history.  This morning at 7:00 a.m., detectives went to the suspect’s Red Rose Way apartment.  He was not home at this time.  Pursuant to court ordered probation terms, detectives entered and searched the residence.  In the suspect’s bedroom was a treasure-trove of laptop computers, digital cameras, electronic video game systems, and assorted accessories.  As detectives were taking inventory of the goods, the suspect returned home, surprised to find the house full of detectives.  His surprise seemed genuine, as entered the residence holding a large marijuana smoking bong and a baggie of marijuana.  He was arrested without incident.  Meanwhile, detectives traced stolen property to three separate cases:  A residential burglary on 040506 in the 700 block of West Valerio St; a residential burglary on 040906 in the 2100 block of Red Rose Way; and a residential burglary on 042406 in the 700 block of Fellowship.  One of the computers even had the suspect’s photos, downloaded from a stolen digital camera.  The suspect was booked at Juvenile Hall for probation violation and three counts of residential burglary.
