Deborah Schwartz

Santa Barbara is at an important crossroads in planning its future. I am engaged in addressing the needs of our diverse community, unique neighborhoods, a severe jobs vs. housing imbalance, and unprecedented fiscal uncertainties. Experienced, accessible, and innovative policy makers are needed now more than ever on City Council. In my 20+ years of professional experience as a Fortune 500 company director, principal of my own consulting practice, community relations director for a nonprofit, and a pro bono commissioner with Santa Barbara County and City, I have developed a track record of being a diligent, common sense, caring decision-maker. My priorities are aligned with our city’s concerns: economic vitality including local job creation, affordable housing development, public education funding, stronger environmental protections, and enhanced public safety. I have deep roots in the community, graduating from Santa Barbara High School and UCSB. With a mother who was a long-time public official and a father who was a 42-year professor at UCSB, I learned the importance of service to community. Transparency, accountability, and responsiveness are my commitments to the people of Santa Barbara. www.schwartzforcitycouncil.com
